This needs titleAs college students, we constantly juggle school, work, and life. It’s not easy, but over time, I’ve learned a few strategies that help me stay accountable and manage everything more effectively. I want to share some of these tips with you.

1. Manage Your Time Wisely
The difference between someone who manages their time effectively and someone who struggles often comes down to planning. Every Sunday, I spend 15 minutes to an hour writing out my weekly schedule in a planner or notebook. I note the times, locations, and activities for each day, like “Business Class at 4:00 PM in the Buccardo Business Building.” I also schedule homework during any available gaps. For example, if I have a 4-hour break between classes, I’ll dedicate 3 hours to studying and use the remaining time to prepare for my next class or grab a bite to eat.

2. Put Your Notifications on Do Not Disturb
While friends, family, and extracurriculars are important, staying focused when you need to concentrate is crucial. When working on an important task, like a 10-page essay, put your phone on Do Not Disturb to eliminate distractions. This prevents you from getting sidetracked by notifications or falling into the social media trap. Stay locked in!

3. Be Honest with Yourself
It’s essential to find a job that accommodates your school schedule and to communicate your availability to friends and family. Everyone should understand that you’re working toward your degree, so don’t hesitate to set boundaries. Being honest with yourself and others will help you avoid poor performance in both school and work.
